Web tier: servlets, JSP, Web frameworks: Can a JSP access resources not in WAR file?

  1. Can a JSP access resources not in WAR file? (3 messages)

    Hi All,

In our application we have some images being uploaded to the server from web. This images will be stored on the server in pre-defined folder structure. Now some other jsps or html files which are in the WAR file of application wants to display this images.
    How we do this?
Is there something we can configure on server?
    We are using weblogic 6.1.

    Thanks in advance.

Last time I had to this, I stored the images in the database and wrote a servlet to retrieve them. Better referential integrity that way.

    Thanks Matthew.

Can you explain it in some detail, may be with snippet of code that stores and retrives image.

    Hi,

This has a very simple solution. Just take a look at
    http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/doc/io-doc/index.html. Long live apache!

    Sincerely,
    Sergei Batiuk.
