Caput's communication and collaboration components provide basic facilities for building online communities for customers, partners and employees in close coherence with an existing portal framework. The components provide message boards, chat rooms, polls, file upload and storage, calendars, e-mail connectivity and much more. They are deployed with a hierarichal user role structure that enables flexible delegated administration scenarios.
Orginally Java Servlet based, Caput ported its software components to a full fledged J2EE model in the beginning of 2000 as Weblogic 5.1 stabilized and became the platform of choice for server side Java deployments. Thus, the components have now aged for 2 years and have reached a high grade of maturity.
The software package is available for download as a free trial version from Caput's website at
An Ant based install script eases the installation for the majority of deployment scenarios. Note that the software currently requires one empty accessible schema in an Oracle database (8.1.5 or more).
We encourage developers to pay a visit to our web site and try out our software. Comments and suggestions are most welcome in the Community section on our site.
