    Press Release
    -------------
    March 1st - Inspired announces the immediate availability of JDBInsight 1.0 Standard Edition. JDBInsight is a new and innovative product, aimed at simplifying the performance tuning and testing of J2EE applications, which access data through the Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) API. The product profiles the access of enterprise data by J2EE client-, web-, and bean containers.

    The single biggest bottleneck in most real world J2EE systems is the database. Profiling tools that only show the method calls are not affective at tuning applications at the enterprise level. There is a need for a tool that captures the underlying database method calls (SQL) and provide context. JDBInsight is such a tool; it is designed solely with J2EE development and deployment in mind. It offers sophisticated analytical tools, that capture transaction behavior and performance timing information, across multiple containers in a single console, and presents this information intuitively to the developer.

    JDBInsight provides the ability to quickly detect performance bottlenecks within a J2EE system, reducing the need to hire expensive performance tuning consultants, allocating valuable development resources or purchasing further hardware to compensate for the lack of tuning. It aids testing by providing the ability to create snapshots of the database interaction during test runs, so that the sequence of this interaction can be discussed between the architect, bean provider, database administrator, and tester.

  2. Will,

    Is JDBInsight free? I couldnt find any pricing info on your site. ;-)

    (Its very nice not having to fill out a 100 question survey before being able to download the eval)

  3. Nick,

    JDBInsight 1.0 Standard Edition is 999 EURO (~$865) Per Appserver Machine (host). The Java console is currently free so that you can share and view snapshots across departments (DBAs...) and development teams.

    Regarding the download the only step required other than installing the product is the generation of a valid license file for server activation.

    Please note that the Java console can be used without a license file, so that you can get a feel for what timing and execution information JDBInsight captures and presents. The product ships with 2 sample snapshots of ECperf and Petstore.

    <near-future>

    I am hoping to provide some more performance snapshots of ECperf with other servers. Followed by a document which details the differences in the executions of the various ECperf postings.

    I think it would be interesting to see what the transaction history looks like underneath all those tx/jdbc/cmp configurations. The runs will be performed on the same hardware and os/software plaform.

    </near-future>
