General J2EE: Process or Agent in a J2EE container

  1. Process or Agent in a J2EE container (2 messages)

    Hi,

I want to run a service that regulary calls other services to check a value. This process does not really fit into the Entity / Session patterns although it will be a client of these beans. It wont have a client to kick it off but will evaluate certain rules. Is there a way of running processes within the same VM as my beans or do I have to write a seperate client process.

I just got back from a ten month vacation so apologies if this is a little fuzzy. I am.

You might want to look at "startup class" in App Server, such as WebLogic, I also heared JBoss has this feature, too. No idea if WebSphere supports it though.

    EJB 2.1 has timers.

Otherwise implement a monitor and run it as a startup class as previous post suggests.
