JSR 160, the JMX Remote API 1.0 specification has been published for public review. The current JMX spec provides the means to create Java based management agents but it does not standardize the means to access these agents remotely. JSR 160 will add new "Client APIs" that provide remote access to agents but abstract underlying protocol/transport issues.
