Vignette signed an agreement to purchase Intraspect Software, a supplier of collaboration software. Vignette will likely integrate its own J2EE content management / portal system with the collaboration suite. They will also sell the collaboration software stand-alone.

The administrative component is very well done, user, group, page, site, and portlet deployment can be managed from the server console in a very intuitive way. -

kind of like apple and oranges ... I have been using the Vignette Application Portal (Formally Epicentric) product .... the enterprise content management products i am not very familar with ...
the Vignette Application Portal solution can is agnositic towards enterprise search and content managment solutions ... there is a layer of abstraction
