Searchblox is a search component that enables you to add search functionality to your applications in a matter of minutes, focusing on presentation of content rather than diving into details of search technology. SearchBlox is available as a Web Archive (WAR) and is deployable on any Servlet 2.3/JSP 1.2 compliant server.

When you add search to your apps, do you: roll your own, use Google, use a crawler package (HTDig), or?
  2. repackaging of oss tools[ Go to top ]

    From the site:

"SearchBlox uses software from the following Open Source Projects:-
    Lucene
    Log4j
    Quartz
    POI
    PDFBox
    HTTP Client"

So SearchBlox is basically just a repackaging & integration of some
great open-source projects. I actually think this is a good thing.
The problem is that there is no competitive advantage, no barrier to
    entry.

I'd like to see the product description with the pre-existing stuff
in italics. Would be pretty revealing.
