  5. Crystal reports and jsp....[ Go to top ]

    Hi,
    embed the reports link into your jsp, then tell the webserver(e.g. APACHE) to always redirect the reports link to the reports server(IIS). ie IIS will forward back the populated report to apache, and apache will send it to your web browser.

    I last did that when using Crystal reports(Ver 8.5) on Windows with an Oracle 9i(On Linux) db.

  7. Crystal & JSP[ Go to top ]

    Hi Netanel!
    I'm working with Weblogic and I installed Crystal Reports XI(for now, 30 days trial version).
    It's hard to find much help, at least for this version -too new, and at least about the things I need.
    Have you found anything? If not, I hope this simple JSP helps you. It only shows a report, which takes no parameters, but it's a start...

    <%@ page import= "com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer.*,
           com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data.*" %>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.reports.reportengineinterface.JPEReportSourceFactory"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.reportsource.IReportSource"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.reportsource.IReportSourceFactory2"%>

    <%
        String report = "report.rpt";
        IReportSourceFactory2 rptSrcFactory = new JPEReportSourceFactory();
        IReportSource reportSource = (IReportSource) rptSrcFactory.createReportSource(report, request.getLocale());

        CrystalReportViewer viewer = new CrystalReportViewer();
        viewer.setReportSource(reportSource);
        viewer.refresh();
        viewer.processHttpRequest(request, response, getServletConfig().getServletContext(), out);
        viewer.dispose();
    %>

    I'm still having problems on
    1- trying to show a report which source is a webservice (I get an "Unexpected Query Engine Error" ^&%@!!!)
    2- trying to show a report that takes parameters (I can pass them within the JSP, but I can't make it ask for them itself -with the CR built-in screen for taking parameters)

    2) works fine if I use the tag libs included in Workshop IDE (Weblogic's ide) but I intend to make it IDE free (I'd rather be working with Eclipse).

    If someone has a clue... :-s

  10. Crystal reports Documentation[ Go to top ]

    Crystal reports PDF Documentation on business object's site is also not giving clear solution.It lists out these steps....
    1. Copy Java Reporting Component and necessary support .jars from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\java\lib and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\java\lib\external into the “/lib” folder inside the web application or .war file.
    2. Copy the contents of the crystalreportviewers10 directory (found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5) to a subdirectory of the same name directly underneath the CRStartupGuide directory (as a peer to WEB-INF). Ensure that all contents, both files and subdirectories, are copied—there should be about 150 files in all. This name of this subdirectory in the CRStartupGuide directory is not important, so long as it matches up when referenced in the web.xml file, which must have the following block added:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
    <param-value>crystalreportviewers10</param-value>
    </context-param>
    Generally, developers will leave the name as is (crystalreportviewers10).
    3. Copy the CrystalReportingEngine-config.xml file into the “WEB-INF/classes” subdirectory from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\java directory. Open it up, and change the “reportlocation” element to read “..” instead of its default “../..”3.
              And there is no CrystalReportingEngine-config.xml file at specified location.
  11. Crystal Reports and Java[ Go to top ]

    I have already done this. But I'm now having problems with the connection. The report show "cached" data and not is connecting through database on execution time. I'm having the message: "Unsupported JNDI Object ()" when I refresh the report. My CRConfig.xml looks like this:

    <JDBC>
      <CacheRowSetSize>100</CacheRowSetSize>
      <JDBCURL>jdbc:postgresql://192.168.205.3:5432/mydb</JDBCURL>
      <JDBCClassName>org.postgresql.Driver</JDBCClassName>
      <JDBCUserName>myUser</JDBCUserName>
      <JNDIURL></JNDIURL>
      <JNDIConnectionFactory></JNDIConnectionFactory>
      <JNDIInitContext></JNDIInitContext>
      <JNDIUserName></JNDIUserName>
      <GenericJDBCDriver>
        <Option>yes</Option>
        <DatabaseStructure>catalogs,tables</DatabaseStructure>
        <StoredProcType>Standard</StoredProcType>
        <LogonStyle>Oracle</LogonStyle>
      </GenericJDBCDriver>
    </JDBC>

    Sorry for my poor english. Somebody can help me?
  12. Crystal Reports and Java[ Go to top ]

    Was solved putting connection information (user and pass) ond the jdbc driver url at report design.
  13. I'm having the same problems integrating postgres/jboss/crystal XI and would really love to see an example (scrubbed of your actual user and pass of course) of a connection URL that worked for you...

    Also, it seems like the CRConfig.xml we put on the Tomcat server installation is not being read...any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!
