Hello
I am wondering if my understanding is right...the move to
certify and make J2EE app servers also opensource...will make leading companies loose a lot of money and probably their interest in these J2EE technologies may decrease!

Sriram,
The commercial vendors have spent years testing and optimizing their servers, and are on to much "higher level" value such as workflow and integration. It may hurt their revenue [somewhat] for an open source implementation to be made available, but at the same time, it will help grow the overall industry, and the app server vendors will already have moved on to other products that they can recoup an investment from.
Peace,
