General J2EE: Log4j versus java.util.logging

  1. Log4j versus java.util.logging (3 messages)

    Hi,

What would be the better option in case of logging. To use java's java.util.logging api as it is or to write a wrapper around log4j and use it. Can anybody give me the pro's and con's of the two ?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Vishal

Try using Commons-logging APIs from Apache. This is nothing but a wrapper providing logging interface. you can switch between Log4j and JDK logging.

The article above is against logging API wrappers like Commons Logging. Anyway using Log4J is easy, and much more flexible than JDK1.4's logging...IMHO
