Hello All,

I am currently playing around with developing a web application. The application requires the use of forums and I was wondering if anybody could tell me what forum eninge TSS uses.

Was it coded from scratch ? if so, what language, tools, etc
If not, which third party program?

Any help or documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Do yourself and your users a favor and use one zillions of the existing time-tested fully functional and usable forums already in existence.

I recommend phpBB. It has far more features than this crappy forum and is years ahead of the one used on java.net. Seriously. The hardcore punk scene where I live has a better forum than anyone in the Java community.

I have considered existing forum solutions. One of my is concerns are that many of them have their own user registration/profile setup, and I do not know how well the forum registration will integrate with the site registration. I guess I could use the forum registration as the site registration.

The other concern that I have is that a forum solution, such as phpBB, is only implemented in php while the site itself will be coded with servlets/jsp. Again, I am not sure how well that will integrate with the rest of the site. Can't say that I would like to mix implementation languages.

The TSS forum is not from the highest quality.
