EJB programming & troubleshooting: Xerces and Xalan with weblogic 6.0

  1. Xerces and Xalan with weblogic 6.0 (1 messages)

    Guys
Weblogic6.0 contains Xerces and Xalan from Apache.
What is the difference between these two?
Can I use Xalan for DOM parsing?
    Thanks

Xerces -> XML parser, reading a XML document and handling the element events (using SAX (events): StartDocument, StartElement, EndElement, EndDocument or using DOM (tree): blah.node().node())

Xalan -> XSLT (eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformations) processor. XSL is a "language" to transform XML documents into HTML, text, or other XML documents.

You cannot use XALAN for DOM parsing. Use Xerces or another DOM parser.
