I've been looking at the Backbase (http://www.backbase.com) stuff and I really like it. However, for some of my smaller personal projects I really cannot afford something with a pricetag that that. I would also prefer something that is open source so that I can tinker with it.
So my question is, are there any Backbase-like projects around? I know Laszo, but I would prefer something that is XHTML based.

Note that Backbase is promising a "community edition" that will be free of charge for qualifying sites. -

Well I guess your wish is their command
They released a developpers-community-edition today, june 1st 2005
Have fun, do read the licence/terms.
Still not a bad idea to develop your own opensource version..... Go and start a project on sourceforge.org
