The Mobicents Open Source project recently achieved certification of the JAIN/SLEE test suite. This open source project for next generation telephone networks that can be thought of as VoIP Middleware. JAIN/SLEE is gaining popularity with the telecom community, as I have heard from a number of users recently. This joins other commercial products like Open Cloud Rhino.

Ivelin Ivanov also recently wrote a blog entry that reviews some of the differences between JAIN/SLEE, SIP and OSA/Parlay.

We are encouraging debate to see these standards mature and hopefully arrive at a widely adopted standard that enables the next generation of IP based Multimedia Systems and Intelligent Networks. Any opinions on the best implementations?
