x4juli.org announces the availability of x4juli 0.6:
Several logging APIs and logging wrapper APIs are in use, especially in server environments. The approach of SUN to standardize logging with J2SE 1.4 was not very succesfull because of the very limited capabilites of java.util.logging. x4juli brings this long missed features.

Tomcat delivers an extension for logging (
[1],
[2]
). These Tomcat logging extension as base
and a port of log4j to java.util.logging where packed together in the new x4juli.
x4juli - e(x)tension for(4) the (j)ava (u)til (l)ogging (i)mplemantion.

Users have benefit from new (Rolling-)FileHandler, PatternFormatter, HtmlFormatter, Filters under the hood of java.util.logging.

Additionally x4juli delivers a native implementation of the
Jakarta Commons Logging (JCL) API
and the Simple Logging Facade for Java (SLF4J) API.
This means that one just use a wrapper interface, but no wrapper classes for logging anymore.
It leads to performance advantages and gives full and correct location information.
