Business Objects has made a Technical Preview of their Crystal Reports for Eclipse product available for download. Users can register at: here
to have the download details emailed to them.
This release includes a first look at a new Crystal Reports Designer completely re-written on the Eclipse platform. Using existing Eclipse views users will now be able to design JDBC reports completely within the Eclipse IDE...even on Linux! In addition to the new report designer, the download includes IDE tooling to assist developers with building web applications containing Crystal Report files. This tooling includes:
- a new Crystal Report Web Application wizard
- Single-click web deployment
- Code Snippets to allow drag-and-drop code inserts
- guided walkthroughs included as part of the in-product help
Finally, users will find additional support material (e.g. Getting Started Guides, FAQs, Release Notes, Forums and an updated blog) at Business Objects' EclipseZone: http://www.businessobjects.com/eclipse
As this is a Tech Preview release there is still time to incorporate feedback received prior to the release of our Beta or Version 1.0 product. The team here at Business Objects encourages users to provide feedback via TheServerSide.com forums, or the Crystal Reports for Eclipse forums setup on Business Objects' support site.
