  1. Tech Talk: Joe Walker on using AJAX with DWR (7 messages)

Direct Web Remoting (DWR) is a Java open source library which helps developers wanting to write
web sites that include AJAX technology. In this Tech Talk, Joe Walker, author of DWR, shows how it can reduce development time and the likelihood of errors by providing commonly used functions and removing almost all of the repetitive code normally associated with highly interactive web sites.

Among the topics Joe addresses are:
    • How DWR manages type conversions
    • How security is addressed in DWR
    • Where DWR is typically used
    • How AJAX factors into accessible applications
    • The impact of AJAX on the network bus

  3. Well, I guess I won't be watching any tech talks on TSS since they require Real Player which is for money. Isn't it ? If there isn't a free version somewhere then it's time to move on to another community. Too bad because TSS tech talks were pretty good.
  4. RealPlayer is free, however, Real just always had the awkward habit to hide the free download. On this page http://www.real.com/player/index.html, look to the upper right and you'll see a smaller blue "RealPlayer - Free" button.

TONS OF CREDIT to you Geert, thanks for taking the time to point that out.

TONS OF CREDIT to you Geert, thanks for taking the time to point that out.

And thanks to you for not taking the time to look at the RealPlayer page yourself! Honestly, are you sure you need to know about AJAX? Maybe an internet basics course would suit you better. At least you seem to be satisfied now that you can watch the interview for free. Thanks god, I was afraid TSS would have to do without your otherwise substantial knowledge in the future.

Check out Real Alternative. It's free, no spyware and works well.
  8. Great interview Joe! I've been looking forward to this ever since you mentioned that it was upcoming.
