Web tier: servlets, JSP, Web frameworks: Win98 Tomcat & JSP's

  1. Win98 Tomcat & JSP's (4 messages)

    Hi
I'm trying to learn JSPs though unfortunately I'm limited to Windows 98. I have got Tomcat up and running with the JAVA_HOME pointing to the JDK1.3. My problem is that although I can view the default page at localhost & the servlet examples seem to run, I do not seem to be able to run any of the Java Server Pages that come as examples (let alone any of my own!).
    Could anybody help me please.

    set JAVA_HOME=C:\Tomcat
    set CATALINA_HOME=C:\Tomcat

    if u r using Tomcat 3.1

    set JAVA_HOME=C:\jdk1.3

  4. Win98 Tomcat & JSP's[ Go to top ]

    Hi Asad
I copy and pasted the code into the autoexec.bat file and now the server won't run. It gives a bad command or file error. The classpaths in the Tomcat.bat files are set to...

    set CLASSPATH=.
    set CLASSPATH=%TOMCAT_HOME%\classes
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%TOMCAT_HOME%\lib\webserver.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%TOMCAT_HOME%\lib\jasper.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%TOMCAT_HOME%\lib\xml.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%TOMCAT_HOME%\lib\servlet.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar

...during installation. I changed the last line -
JAVA_HOME%\c:\jdk1.3. I don't know if this is correct. But on each occasion with the autoexec.bat file edited Tomcat wouln't run. Any suggestions?
    thanks

    Panic over

The last line in the CLASSPATH in the tomcat.bat file should read...

    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%JAVA_HOME%C:\jdk1.3\lib\tools.jar
    again thanks
