Is state, ie. the values of member variables, maintained for Stateless Session Beans across method calls by different clients and thus movement of the bean in and out of the pool ??
If so then presume that variables that need to
be initialised for each call must be done explicitly for member variables, or instead have as method variables ??

The way I understand it, there is no guarantee that stateless session bean's member fields will maintain their state EVEN across subsquent calls from a single client.
