Hi Guys, Could anybody let me know how i can generate one simple report per day. Static. It contains only some lists, not graphic charts and all. It should happen automatically on a specific time every day. I prefer open source, either Jasper or BIRT. I thank you in advance for ur help. Thanks, Saran.Threaded Messages (6)

Hi Saran, If you just want a simple BIRT report to run once a day, then I suggest you look at these two examples at BIRT Exchange. One is called 'Using the BIRT Report Engine API' at: http://www.birt-exchange.com/modules/wfdownloads/singlefile.php?cid=5&lid=32 and explains how to create a simple class to generate BIRT reports that are created in the BIRT designer. Another is called 'Batch Files to Schedule BIRT Reports' at: http://www.birt-exchange.com/modules/wfdownloads/singlefile.php?cid=2&lid=36 and explains a simple way to run that class with a batch file More advanced scheduling for BIRT reports is available with Actuate's iServer. If you're not already familiar with creating the BIRT report design, then poke around http://www.birt-exchange.com for awhile as there are other demos to watch there that will be helpful. Virgil -

Hi Dodson and all, Thanks a lot for your detailed reply. Great. I dont want to Actute iServer since its licenced one. Im looking at opensource reporting stuff. I think BIRT will fill my expectation. Meanwhile can i go for CACHING? Reason is i m going to publish less amount of data ( may be 100 to 500) only in table format in HTML. No pdf or graph involved in my reqrmnt. Could you pls advice me on this. Regards, Saran. -

Hi, I am using RAQ Report, a powerful reporting tool. I am glad to recommend RAQ Report to you, as I am sure that it will help you to do your jobs much more easily. It is a pure Java reporting tool, which is very simple for learning. I became skillful in it after only five classes, and I have used it for half a year. RAQ Report is a free Java reporting tool, and you can get it at http://www.raqsoft.com/.
