News: ServiceMix, Geronimo Introduction Tech Brief
ServiceMix is a JSR-208, open-source ESB compliant with the Java Business Integration (JBI) specification. It allows components and services to be integrated in a vendor-independent way, enabling users and vendors to plug-and-play. Jeff Genender spoke about ServiceMix at JavaZone, where we had a chance to speak with him about this and the plans for JBI 2.0 and how it integrates with application servers or JEE containers. Jeff also told us about Geronimo and how it compares against JBoss, especially regarding its modular nature. Last, Jeff offers a sneak preview at Geronimo and its upcoming OSGi functionality. Didn't we just establish that Geronimo is "Dead Man Walking"?
IBM does hold the cards, Roy, but the definition of dead is not based on the JBoss model in this case, but rather the Glassfish example...a large vendor with direct control of the reigns of Geronimo will determine whether there can be a new way forward for this dysfunctional community... Judging from this JBI-related announcement, they r doing the right things to stay relevant...
a large vendor with direct control of the reigns of Geronimo will determine whether there can be a new way forward for this dysfunctional community...Any guesses on the large vendor? From where I stand, all major vendors currently in the space will run in to the same wall as IBM, trying to father the Geronimo orphan.
that was rude
Didn't we just establish that Geronimo is "Dead Man Walking"?Establish? Is that how you refer to the posting of complete rumours and FUD? The only certainty that post established is that TSS has stooped to the level of tabloid rubbish these days.
