An effective integration of development tools is an important success factor for software engineering projects. Many developers claim about proprietary solutions of tool manufacturers, and poorly-integrated development infrastructures. Scientists and students from the Technische Universität München (TUM) (http://www1.in.tum.de), are conducting a scientific study to identify and better understand problems of tool integration in software engineering. One part of this study is an online questionnaire, in which developers are asked to give their personal experiences (http://www1.in.tum.de/static/survey/index.php?sid=83578〈=en). The results of the questionnaire will be used to derive concepts to solve current problems of tool integration. Also an open source framework will be implemented based on the results. Answering the online questionnaire takes approximately 10 minutes. An IPod Touch will be raffled among the participants. Results of the study can be obtained upon request. Your answers can only be used in aggregated form for research purposes.
