This is a great example of using Scala for cloud development. Scala brings a lot more depth on the language level with its elegance and simplicity (although Scala's language + compiler combination initially may feel complex) to cloud development. The integration between Java and Scala is not smooth though and still has some way to go on Scala side while GridGain will be providing a more native interface for Scala in a near future.
