NT/e Ltd has announced CloudTran, a middleware product that brings the Cloud into the mainstream as an application platform for Java. CloudTran provides a simple Java view of data, mission-critical transactions and automatic distribution in the Cloud. The product builds on the GigaSpaces XAP platform, providing cloud transactions to SQL and NoSQL data stores, according to Nati Shalom, CTO and Founder of GigaSpaces. CloudTran is said to manage transactions across many thousands of machines without losing data, even during outages. CloudTran is said to take pain and effort out of implementing Java in clouds. It lets developers focus on the application without having to worry about making it work in a distributed environment. "There are big hurdles to building scalable enterprise applications for cloud deployment - the need to cope with distributed programming, use both new and legacy data stores, according to Peter Varhol, Principal, Technology Strategy Research deliver high-speed and reliable transactions, and to deploy to both test and production environments. CloudTran provides an out-of-the-box Java solution to all these problems, allowing mainstream developers to reduce their risks, costs and timescales for building cloud applications."
