I love RichFaces, but the combo box is next to unusable. It has this awkward idea of having to change the meaning of the f:selectItem, but the worst thing is that it simply doesn't render correctly in a lot of circumstances. The drop-down menu either doesn't render at all (happens a lot in Chrome), or renders severely misaligned. Maybe it works when directly put on a plain HTML page with only the html and body tags presents, but as soon as any amount of css is used (especially floating parts), then the component completely breaks down.

Maybe the combo box is better off being put in a special sandbox version of RichFaces until it grows up a little?
