Weiqi Gao posted "Six JDK Classes You Think You Know," highlighting some aspects of the core JDK runtime you might not be aware of, like "Double.MIN_VALUE" and some others.
A lot of them (Thread.setDefaultUncaughtExceptionHandler, for example) aren't going to be generally useful - in fact, probably none of them are generally useful. Plus, a lot of experienced programmers will know some of them offhand - String.getBytes(), for example. But these also represent a sort of baseline knowledge that programmers will have their hand in; it's the sort of thing experienced programmers will dig into at varying points in their careers.
