Spring 3.1 was released on Tuesday. The popular enterprise Java application development framework adds comprehensive Java-based application configuration, a new caching abstraction, environment profile support, as well as Hibernate 4, JDBC 4.1 and Java 7 fork/join support.

Spring 3.1 is fully compatible with Spring 3.0 and continues to have Java 5+ and Servlet 2.4+ as minimum system requirements. Spring 3.1 is a recommended upgrade to all Spring 3.0.x users.
