MUNICH, Germany, BEA eWORLD EUROPE 2001, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS), one of the world's leading e-business infrastructure software companies, today announced the availability of the latest versions of BEA's flagship enterprise application server solutions, BEA Tuxedo 8.0 and BEA WebLogic Enterprise 6.0.
BEA WebLogic Enterprise 6.0 unites in a single offering BEA's award-winning, #1 Java application server, BEA WebLogic Server, and the new version of BEA Tuxedo, the industry's leading transaction server and proven market leader in more than a decade of mission-critical deployments. BEA Tuxedo, the de facto standard platform across thousands of enterprises for distributed mission-critical applications built using C, C++ and COBOL languages, now provides fully integrated support for BEA's CORBA distributed application technologies in BEA Tuxedo 8.0. BEA Tuxedo 8.0 enables the protection of long-standing IT investments by integrating legacy applications developed using other CORBA environments, and by integrating with mainframe and other enterprise applications. Early adopter customers including IT Design, based in Dublin, Ireland and EuroControl, based in Brussels, Belgium, have already begun to leverage the new capabilities and features of BEA Tuxedo 8.0. IT Design, which creates and designs enterprise systems for the human services, social security and pension industries, relies on BEA Tuxedo to provide the critical back-end transactional processes and high service level requirements of its enterprise systems.
"Utilizing the new performance enhancements in BEA Tuxedo 8.0, we can improve the performance and scalability of our Curam system and handle a larger number of users and transactions without degrading response times," said Oisin Clarke, vice president, engineering, research & development, at IT Design. "The ATMI (Application Transaction Monitor Interface) enhancements in BEA Tuxedo 8.0 decrease our boot-up time significantly, in turn ensuring our mission-critical applications have the highest availability possible."
