JSR 138: The Dynamic Monitoring Service (DMS) will specify an API and a programming model for monitoring user defined events in Java programs. Examples of information this would give includes occurences and duration of an event, state at event occurence time, etc. This JSR is based on a similar DMS system used within Oracle products for about 2 years.
Check out the Dynamic Monitoring Service.

Funny... JMX, which is 18 months old does the same thing. I wonder where the differentiator lives... it has to have some differentiator. -
