Web tier: servlets, JSP, Web frameworks: Is Apache Tomcat a good choice for me?

  1. Is Apache Tomcat a good choice for me? (2 messages)

I am going to start a web project, which will use Java Servlets, JSP, and JavaBeans. I will use either IIS or Apache as web server. Could any one tell me will Apache Tomcat be good enough? Is it absolutely free of charge? And will there be any better choices? Thank you.
  2. Yes, It is the best available in the market, My advice to you is to go ahead with Tomcat.

Tomcat is free, and that is hard to beat.
There are some bugs in it, though, and performance is poor.

Orion and Resin are better solutions. Low cost (free for development, $1500 or so for commercial deployment), standards compliant, and fast.
