EJB design: ServerSocket: Creating a java "thing" with EJB's

  1. ServerSocket: Creating a java "thing" with EJB's (2 messages)

    Here is what I need.

I have to recieve a stream of data over a Socket. My current environment is a EJB environment, and I know that I cannot start a ServerSocket within a EJB.

However, I need to create a way to recieve this stream of data. What is the best way for me to create a java "thing" that will start with the app server (weblogic 6.1)?
  2. Why not make your data as a serializable object and pass it to your remote EJB object, either session bean or entity bean?
  3. You probably have a large binary stream, what I would do is hack it up in chunks (say of 1024K) and then have the client call your business method until there is no more data available, analogous to the java.io library..
