  1. Servlets on Websphere 4 (1 messages)

Can anyone tell me what the minimum steps required are to deploy and run a servlet on Websphere App Server 4. I’ve written my basic servlet (which simply outputs some HTML) and compiled it into a class file. I’ve tried using jar to put that into a jar file, using the application assembler tool to build a .war file, and then lauching it from Websphere Advanced Admin Console. It starts fine, but when I try and access it via a browser I get a class not found exception. Any help (or a pointer to some documentation), hugely appreciated. Also is it necessary to do all of these stages or can I use the class file directly in some way?

Don't jar your servlets before putting them in your war. Your servlet classes should go in WEB-INF/classes.
