Well, Sun as we know is is dead. Eventually the Oracle acquisition of Sun will go through. What Oracle does with various Sun technologies is hard to say.

With JavaFX, Larry has already expressed interest. But that might have been BS passing...

Anyone who seriously thinks that JavaFX has a remote chance of gaining some mindshare is severely deluded. In one year, we won't even be talking about it any more, like most of Sun's innovations of these past ten years.

Seriously - Where is the Java PetStore or any of the new blueprints implemented using JavaFX? There are none, because they cannot be implemented easily.

It is a bit uncertain what is going on and whether a mobile runtime will not (never) be released or will be released in time. The original message was almost a year ago that a mobile runtime would be released within a few weeks but then something changed...

But, SUN does not seem to realize that and does not release a mobile runtime. Therefore, effectively, Java FX is DOA. As I see it the main ignorance is at SUN.

JavaFX is still young (less than a year has passed since 1.0 was released, prior it was all open experimentation), and still in active development, and people here are proclaiming it's DOA. That attitude is ridiculous, and frankly...

It seems that whenever there is a new technology, that's not some open source framework, sooooo many posters on these forums completely close their minds to it, especially if it's from Sun or the JCP.

Few days ago I made my first desktop app using JavaFX. It was an amazing experience...jfx and java together simply rocks.
