You look at things like instant message centers (that) have certain protocols. Unfortunately, they're a little bit complex with their ways of sending to instant message centers with mobile operators that typically gets to all your phones. You can use SMTP, of course, to send emails to email-enabled devices. That would include things like Blackberries, that are very popular.

One of the problems is, unfortunately, there's today, not a single way to go out and hit all of these, there's not a single way unless you buy a technology that will act as a proxy to get to all possible devices just by one Java API. So that's one of the things that you're going to find in proxy products like Oracle's and gradually you're going to see standardization around that in the J2EE space.
