We have an EJBController that accepts all requests to the back end. The Controller session bean is stateful and caches a small amount of mission critical data. In order for business logic to access the cached data in the Controller, I was looking at passing the Handle around to other classes to get to the data instead of passing the actual data object which is a copy of the data. Are there any drawbacks to passing the Handle of the stateful session bean?

There is no wrong in passing Handle .
But it would be better if you would send a snippet of code so that it would be more clear n can throw some ideas and points.
