this is regarding EJB.
i was trying out a code in the process of learning some EJB, a .jar file needs to be prepared before deployment....right!
what is this 'Manisfest' doing? i don't understand this. Does a manifest have some specific format with text in it somthing like this
and so no...
imo, manifest files are not that important. ant creates those files if you build the jar files with ant.
nevertheless, if you work with jboss as app server and need another libary you should reference this libary in the manifest file.
Created-By: Apache Ant 1.5.1
As the article describes Manifest files can be used for many purposes one of which is as Christen describes the Extension Mechanism
None of this is JBOSS specific.
the concept of manifests has been around since the birth of Java. It was intended for informational purposes and later became used for system purposes, like jar files locking, putting execution information (Main-Class entry) or just ensuring that the contents of the jar file haven't been modified by any third party.
