The beta 2 of the J2EE SDK is now available and includes blueprints, a tutorial and a J2EE 1.4-compatible application server, and WS-I Basic Profile support. Sun has also announced that it is donating the reference implementations of JAX-RPC, SAAJ, and JAXB, to java.net, Sun's new java developer collaboration portal.

Backlash against web services aside, they will be reality for a chunk of EAI and process automation and it's a pretty great thing that J2EE 1.4 supports the WS-I Basic Profile and that after a rocky beginning Sun and the JCP are working with the WS-I in such a tangible way. Nice job.
