The beta 2 of the J2EE SDK is now available and includes blueprints, a tutorial and a J2EE 1.4-compatible application server, and WS-I Basic Profile support. Sun has also announced that it is donating the reference implementations of JAX-RPC, SAAJ, and JAXB, to java.net, Sun's new java developer collaboration portal.

Get J2EE 1.4 SDK Beta 2 and read the press release.
JCP work begins to simplify EJB, JDBC, and other J2EE specs.
Whats new in J2EE 1.4.
Backlash against web services aside, they will be reality for a chunk of EAI and process automation and it's a pretty great thing that J2EE 1.4 supports the WS-I Basic Profile and that after a rocky beginning Sun and the JCP are working with the WS-I in such a tangible way. Nice job.
