    in case of weblogic 5.1.0 u can specify the session timeout at the time of u deploying the bean using the ejb-deployer.
    in case of .xml file there is clearly a provision given to specify the session time out.

    Hi,

    Session time-out is used for Stateful Session beans.
    Session time out :
    whenever your client is accessing stateful session bean then container saves your state (into the server machine) in the form of some flat file. In thet flat file conatiner maintains your session id, object etc etc. If you are not accessing the stateful session bean for more than time out period, conatiner removes the bean from memory and deletes that flat file from server machine also. Then your state will be lost and you ahve to open a complete new session. There is no need to specify session time-out period for stateless session beans as conatiner does not maintain state of the bean.
