    ONJava has just published at article on the Jakarta project Slide.

    Slide is composed of a number of different modules, all tied together using the WebDAV protocol. These modules include implementations of a number of useful features such as a WebDAV client library, a WebDAV server library, and a WebDAV-based content management system.

    The article both WebDAV in general, and Slide in particular, using Java client side examples.

    I have read the article u linked, but I can't find the reason to use it.

    is that you don't want to reinvent the wheel each time around. People who try spend far more time trying to get rid of the kinks in their wheel than doing useful stuff.

    But by all means - nobody is forcing you to use such things as the java standard libraries or servlet containers. It is possible to roll your own each time around.

    If you don't accept REST or some other document oriented architecture, then WebDAV's value wouldn't be apparent.
