General J2EE: Weblogic 7.0 Deployment Doubts

  1. Weblogic 7.0 Deployment Doubts (2 messages)

    Hi,

    Currently we are in the process of migrating from WLS 6.1 to WLS 7.0 . I have few doubts abt the deployment for applications .

    We have one admin server and some 30 Managed Servers distributed across 5 solaris boxes ( and are NOT Clustered)

    Currently we use weblogic.deploy to deploy in 6.1(One Phase Protocal).But in 7.0 it is uses a 2 phase protocol for deployment.

    Here are my doubts :
    ========================

    1) How much this 2 phase protocol will be useful in the current scenario considering the fact that we are not using clustering

    2) Also what should be attribute for Staging Mode for
    both Admin and Managed Servers.( I mean , stage , nostage or external_stage)

    3) Should applications be put in exploded format / Archived Format ( I am aware that exploded format is mentioned as BEST PRACTICE by BEA)

    4) Also 7.0 there is no constraint on keeping the domain directory inside the weblogic home ? Is it a good idea to do it ?

    Normally we use exploded format during development time and archived format during production.

    It is a good idea to have domain directory outside weblogic home.
