    In my previous thread, I discussed about app server excessively calling ejbLoad/ejbStore to prevent out-of-sync information in the EJB:

    Just a minute ago, I was reading an article by the architect of this site (Floyd Marinescu). He uses a isModified and isDBShared flag to prevent the ejbLoad/ejbStore from actually going to the database excessively (page 37-38):

    So the question is, should I be doing that? This seems to contradict what we've discussed in the previous thread.

    The biggest issue with this approach is that it is totally non-portable. I also have major concerns with these systems when you get into Local Diamond circumstances.
