Can someone tell me what a "footprint sized" database looks like? Does that mean it can be embedded in a sneaker? Write once, run anywhere...

It keeps taking me back to the email form. Again, and again and again. Maybe someone can explain to them the html link internals - certainly it's not as complex.

Can this DB be OEMed for production purposes?

Will its JDBC drivers support J2EE XA transactions(in CMTs,etc), as supported by Oracle / MSSQL drivers?

What are the porting issues, when ported from Oracle
Eg : Rownum support?
     Date / SQL functions?
     Row / table locks?
     procedures / triggers / functions?

If it supports all of the above, then its surely worth a try to OEM in a product.

I am developing an application that requires an embedded database. Originally, I tried to use a solution that uses the Sun RowSets (in particular, CachedRowSet) with Apache Derby.
However, Derby didn't support enough of the JDBC API to get CachedRowSet to work, so I tried switching to (the previous release of) One$DB. It was extremely easy to migrate from Derby to One$DB. It seems like the reason Derby is popular and One$DB is not is largely due to marketing concerns, not technical issues.

However, One$DB also had shortcomings in its support for the JDBC API that caused CachedRowSet to fail. Primarly, neither one implemented all of the Rowset metadata methods correctly.

Perhaps my frustration would have not been so bad if the source code for Sun's RowSet providers was available.

Is there any 100% Java, open-source database that claims full compliance with the JDBC 4 or even JDBC 3 spec? For me, JDBC-compliance is more important than performance as the databases that my application manages are small.

Also, I know that the previous release of One$DB didn't have RowSet support. Has the full Daffodil RowSet API been copied over to One$DB, or are there limitations?

Thanks for the support. Rowset feature has been included in One$DB. Daffodil DB v4.1 and One$DB v4.1 are exactly the same.

I'm not 100% sure: I wan't able to create FULLTEXT indexes on OneDollarDB so far. I always get an exception.
The BrowserServer GUI has no "create full-text index" functionality ass well.

One$DB is platform independent so it works on any Os including Solaris.
