Apache ServiceMix is an extensible messaging bus for service integration, mediation and composition and its related components. ServiceMix provides a JBI 1.0 ESB and component suite. The ASF board has just approved its graduation which means that the project is now fully endorsed by the ASF. Development of the next major version has already began and will be based on OSGi as a container and deployment platform and Apache Camel for the Enterprise Integration Patterns, in addition to Apache ActiveMQ for the JMS message broker and Apache CXF for the web services framework.Threaded Messages (9)

Can you tell me something more about the relationship between Camel and ServiceMix? I might be wrong, but it seems to me there is some functional overlap as they both can play the role of an ESB, how can they work together? Thanks in advance M. -

Congratulation to the Apache ServiceMix Team and Community. I'm looking forward to see the same progress as in the last years and continuation by the great support of the standard JBI (Java Business Integration). Roland SOA Competence Network -

Well done guys, being officially endorsed by Apache will go a long way making ServiceMix a "safe" choice for the larger companies (banks and telcos etc.) -John- -

There's is really a lot of information on the ServiceMix website but below is a very quick stab: * Lightweight, messaging-based integration platform * Built on top of Apache ActiveMQ * Configured using the Spring Framework * Easily embeddable * Integration with many app servers * Implements the JBI 1.0 spec * Includes support for the following: ** Apache Camel ** Drools ** Many EIP patterns ** File-based operations ** FTP ** HTTP/S ** JAAS ** JMS ** JSR-181 Web Services Metadata ** JSR-223 Scripting ** POJOs ** Quartz ** RSS ** XQuery ** XSLT ** WS-Addressing ** WS-Notification ** WS-Security ** XMPP I'm sure there is a ton of stuff I'm forgetting at the moment. For more info, see the User's Guide. And if you have any questions, please jump on the ServiceMix discussion forums.
