The Abacus Formula Compiler (AFC) makes it possible to use computations defined in spreadsheet files within normal Java applications. The original spreadsheet files can be created, for example, in Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc. AFC reads the spreadsheet files and builds corresponding Java-based formula evaluation engines (it compiles to byte code). Such an engine computes output values given a set of input values. You can learn more about the project here: The release 1.2.0 adds support for spreadsheets in the Microsoft Office Open XML .xlsx (MS Excel 2007) format. It also contains minor improvements and bugfixes. Please see full details here: Abacus Research AG provides the Abacus Formula Compiler (AFC) under two flexible licenses, designed to meet the usage and distribution requirements of different types of users:
  • a commercial license for ISVs and OEMs using AFC as part of their own commercial solutions, and
  • an open source license (GPL) for use in free software/open source projects.
