    I have some doubts regarding war file
    What is War File and What is the advantage of create war file.
    How it is different From Jar File
    How to create WAR file.

    take a look at the following two articles:

    I think that they will give you a pretty good idea of what a WAR file is and how is being used ( in case of Tomcat ).
