ZK had brought features such as MVVM, responsive design, and client side programming to the Java web development landscape. In the framework’s last installment, ZK has revamped its theme engine to leverage the styling advancements made in CSS3, Bootstrap, and LESS.

Creating, or customizing a theme no longer entails lengthy style definitions but rather the developers can leverage the scaffolds offered by Bootstrap as well as the rich repositories of existing templates.

DOM structure of the framework’s default theme has been simplified while a new theme that incorporates flat design also makes its debut.
