Collation, a Palo Alto, California-based software startup, emerges out of stealth mode this week with demonstrations of its first product at BEA Systems' eWorld user conference in Orlando. The product, Confignia, has been designed to help large companies solve the growing problem of managing Web-based application configurations in highly distributed and complex environments. It's an area that has already seen some startup activity, but Collation is hoping to pitch Confignia as a fundamental building block that can help enable broader utility and autonomic computing initiatives.
