Hi,
I have gone through some basic EJB development training material using Weblogic 6. I am now interested in getting my J2EE Sun Certification.
Could someone please advice me on the following:
1) Is taking the Sun J2EE Architect Certification helpful?
2) Which book can I go through (other than the Cert Exam guide by Roberts) that will best prepare me for this certification exam?
3) Would going through the certification exam guide and a good J2EE book be good enough for me to take a certification exam?
4) Any other information/suggestions would be greatly appreciated also.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help on this.

The SCEA J2EE certification goes well beyond just knowledge of EJBs. I'm starting to review for the exam as well and so far the best source I've found is the J2EE Sun Certified Enterprise Architect Study Guide by Paul Allen and Joseph Bambara. Major focus on Design Patterns, architecture best practices, messaging, security and of course EJBs. -

I don't think so. Unless you're a consultant with customers demanding a certified Architect. I don't think it's useful for a number of reasons, but the main one is the technology changes so fast you'll be locked in to retaking certification exams. Second, based on my studying for the Java developer exam, it's a lot of "language lawyer" type questions. Finally, it's like having a BS, Masters, MBA or any other degree: It's not the degree but what you do with your knowledge. -

Another good book is: Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide by Mark Cade, Simon Roberts. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0130449164/104-4159141-1543914?v=glance) -
