I HAVE REGISTERED A DOMAIN NAME, SAY XYZ.COM
I HAVE J2EE SERVER
I CREATED A JSP PAGE XYZ.JSP
NOW I WANT TO HOST IT FROM MY SERVER SO THAT IF SOME USER TYPES XYZ.COM IN HIS BROWSER, MY XYZ.JSP IS ACESSED FROM MY SERVER.
I KNOW THAT I HAVE TO POINT THE IP ADRESS TO MY SYSTEM FOR THE DOMAIN NAME,
BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO CONNECT ALL THIS SO THAT MY SERVER GIVES THIS PAGE
AND HOW TO CONNECT THE XYZ.COM WITH MY JSP PAGE
u need to host ur site thats what u need right. well for that u haveto get in touch with hosting services provider. i know some of them
u can search for more on the net. just type "hosting services" on any search engine. will get more info.
well if u have ur own server/software/hardware everything thats cool but still u need to hook up ur machine to the net, so i guess these guys r the best to answer ur questions.
alrighty, hope this helps
then what is the use of the j2ee server, weblogic server etc
if we want to get service from web hosters
shall i have to give all code to web hoster
then what is the role of my machines and server
i am novice in this field
If you have your own servers and software, then you need to get an Internet account with an ISP who can provide you with a Static IP.
Try either Cable Modem or DSL. This will allow you to connect your server's static IP with the XYZ.com URL that you have registered. This is the first step. You can take it from there.
I have an internet account with AOL
IS IT ENOUGH?
When I am acessing the domain name I registered
through AOL,the site where I registered my url
is shown, telling tht this url is registered with them
they allows me to login to the url and edit the ipaddress.
My machine is having some ipadress, so shall I point it to
this adress? How to find this address?
If it is o.k, then what is the next step?
If it is not enough pl help
preethi if u want to use the infrastructure(hardware/software) u have with u currently, u can do dat also. as sohail mentioned u need a static or or what i call a REGISTERED IP from any of the ISP. u need to speak to them. and then for other people to access ur site u will have to remail connected for all the time. if u have dial up u phone line reamains busy all the time.
but better wud be to get in touch with hosting service providers cause they have the better infrastructure (hardware/routers/backup devices etc) to do this job. as far as the software is concerned (J2EE server) u can still use the license u have to install it on someone else server.
U need to have a pair of static IP addresses one for ur System where J2EE server is running and one is assgned to the Router which enables u to connect to the internet.
NOw u can access ur JSP by typing in ur IP address/xyz.jsp
or whatever i mean where it is stored in J2EE ( webapp ).
