BEA Weblogic 10 appserver preview available for download (10 messages)

BEA's implementation of the Java Enterprise Edition specification, WebLogic 10, is available for free download (assuming you're a BEA member, which involves a free registration). It hasn't been certified as compliant yet, as it's undergoing the process, but it's worth looking into. Downloads are for Linux or Windows; it'll be interesting to see how well WebLogic 10 implements Java EE, given BEA's focus on service-oriented architectures.Threaded Messages (10)

I tried to download this tech preview. Do anyone know anything about the Pitchfork relation with this tech preview? http://www.interface21.com/pitchfork/ I thought that Spring was suppose to be an important part of the WLS, but looking at the samples and the documentation following the tech preview - I couldn't find anything about this. I was hoping for some sample code showing the unique integration between WLS and Spring. -

WebLogic 10 uses the Pitchfork project to Java EE resource injection and EJB3 interceptors. We also use some Spring interceptors internally for a couple other EJB3 implementation details. In other words, we use Pitchfork for internal implementation reasons, and not for exposing additional external interfaces. There are a couple of externally-facing Spring-related features in the pipeline as well. They didn't make it into this tech preview code drop, but keep an eye out for more info as new releases come out. Of course, as has been the case since 9.0 (or so), you can monitor your application's Spring beans from the WebLogic console. -Patrick -- Patrick Linskey http://bea.com -
